Online LL.M. Application Process
Please complete the following steps to apply for the Online LL.M. program. Completed applications are reviewed after the Scholarship Priority Deadline (typically within 1-2 weeks). Please note that the review of your application may also include any federally required screening.
We strongly encourage applicants to apply as early as possible and no later than 1 month before the scheduled start of the semester.
Summer 2025 Deadlines:
- Scholarship Priority Deadline: March 12
- Application Deadline: April 12
- Start date for Online LLM: May 12

Application
All application materials can be submitted through this Online LL.M. Application Portal.
Degree-seeking applicants should be prepared to submit the following:
- Application Form
- Confirmation that Credential Evaluation or Transcript Order is In Progress: The course by course credential evaluation is required for non-US law degrees. Applicants may select from any of these agencies or may proceed through the UDSL Online LLM page with TEC (SpanTran). Applicants who earned their law degree in the US should order official JD transcripts and have them emailed from their US Law School to onlinellmapplication@udayton.
edu. - English Proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, Waiver Request): Applicants submitting a waiver request should highlight their background in English and include supporting documentation (for example, certificates received, transcripts confirming English study, alternate English assessments, letters in support of the request that highlight the use of and proficiency in English, etc.). A video screening will be required as part of the waiver process, which you must schedule.
- Updated CV or Resume
- Personal Statement (This should be submitted on Page 14 of the Application under "Other Supporting Documentation")
- Scholarship Request Statement (Optional): Applicants for the Online LL.M. degree program are automatically considered for a partial tuition scholarship when they answer "Yes" to the question "Are you applying for a scholarship through the University of Dayton School of Law" on page 14 of the application. You may submit a scholarship request statement that further highlights any additional information (academic, professional, personal accomplishments, financial need) that you would like to be considered in the scholarship determination. (That should be submitted as an attachment on Page 14 of the Application under "Other Supporting Documentation.")
- Recommenders or Recommendation Letters (Optional)
- Attorney Registration Card (if applicable)
Non-degree applicants should be prepared to submit the following:
- Application Form
- LLM transcripts (from US Law school) plus first degree in law transcripts or degree (Official LLM Transcripts should also be emailed from the applicant's US Law School to onlinellmapplication@shushijia.net)
- Scholarship request
- Updated CV or Resume
- Government issued photo ID
Since applicants cannot save their progress in the portal, we recommend they review the application and required supplemental materials before completing the online application. Additional Application Option
Interested students can also apply through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). The application can be submitted electronically through LSAC’s Document Assembly Service and may be combined with the LSAC’s International Transcript Authentication and Evaluation Service. (LSAC Fees Apply).
